Rumah terbuka di Malaysia bermaksud sesuatu perayaan agama disambut oleh penganut pelbagai agama dengan tujuan memupuk persefahaman di kalangan rakyat Malaysia. Rumah terbuka tidaklah bertujuan mengembangkan agama kepada penganut agama lain. Biasanya rumah terbuka diadakan di padang atau di dalam dewan.

Sebelum ini, konsep rumah terbuka dijalankan secara kecil-kecilan di mana tuan rumah menjemput rakan taulan datang ke rumah bagi menikmati juadah yang disediakan. Rakan dari kaum Melayu, Cina, India dan lain-lain turut dijemput.

Amalan rumah terbuka memberi kefahaman kepada rakyat bukan Islam tentang nilai hidup ajaran Islam yang menganjurkan sifat berbaik-baik sesama manusia.

Amalan rumah terbuka ini sesuatu yang unik bagi Malaysia, telah mendorong menyumbang kepada keamanan dan kebaikan keadaan dalam negara kita. Rakyat bukan Islam mendapat gambaran sebenar mengenai ajaran Islam. Selama ini rakyat bukan Islam sering mendapat gambaran mengenai Islam yang dikaitkan dengan keganasan terutama selepas Serangan 11 September.
